He has served on the Boards of Directors of several Start-Up Companies and as Volunteer Clinical Professor of Dermatology, UCI, Irvine, California and SUNY, Buffalo, New York.
John was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica and received his secondary education in Glasgow, Scotland. He earned his medical degree from Glasgow University in 1973, and subsequently trained in general medicine, infectious diseases and pediatrics in Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom. Development as a Dermatologist occurred in parallel with an industry career. He was appointed Honorary Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal London Hospital, England in 1982. He has significant international (29 years) experience in all aspects of drug development with three major pharmaceutical companies (Wellcome, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Allergan); and a track record of major product approvals worldwide in the fields of dermatology, ophthalmology and neurology, with additional experience in oncology, allergy and anti-infectives, including anti-virals. One of the better known drugs for which he led the development worldwide was Botox, both for therapeutic and cosmetic uses.
John retired from the Pharmaceutical Industry in 2007 to pursue a lifelong interest in music. He co-founded Wi Digital Systems, Inc and Jangus Music, Inc in the belief that a musician’s life could be greatly enhanced and simplified by replacing cable with significantly value-added digital wireless products. He is also a prolific songwriter and a performer of original material.
His passion for music, drug development, medicine and entrepreneurialism remains powerfully intact.
